Would you participate in activities that create a world where animals and their environment are respected and protected? By volunteering with OIPA Cameroon you will make a major contribution to the welfare of both domestic and wild animals that live in the country. You will have the unique opportunity to work with some fascinating animals and gain the satisfaction that comes from making a positive impact on their lives. Furthermore, you will be in close contact with the local communities and the inspiring people who run OIPA.

Volunteers are welcome all year round. The only thing you need is enthusiasm and your best will, no previous experience is required. Of course, you will have a strong interest in the conservation of wildlife, animal welfare and environment protection.

YOUR DUTIES AS A VOLUNTEER AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

As a volunteer, you will spend a minimum of 5 hours per day (minimum two days) working with stray, owned, domestic and wild animals. Therefore, you should be physically fit, able to tolerate high temperatures and willing to work and stay in remote areas. You will also have the opportunity to visit the local communities in Cameroon and meet people in remote areas with different culture and traditions. We expect you to work well within a team and be adaptable to living and working in a group.

Your first day with OIPA will consist of an orientation session and full details of the locations there you are going to work. The orientation will cover both logistical information regarding how the organization in run and educational material detailing the fundamentals of animal welfare and environmental basics. You will be trained and supervised by the experienced animal keepers and vet technician in collaboration with the ministry of livestock fisheries and animal industries of Cameroon.
